Rick Davis, Principal

Overall  Management, Advertising, Direct Mail, Research and Polling Management

Rick Davis has played a major role in political and public policy issues in California for over twenty years.  During this time he has been involved in over 50 political campaigns on federal, state and local levels.

In 2002 Davis had a very successful year winning eleven campaigns for candidates and ballot measures including: March 2002 - the recall of three Glendora City Councilmen and the successful management of the campaigns for all three candidates that replaced the recalled councilmen; November 2002 - provided a comprehensive public information program for the City of Palm Springs to assist with six initiative-sponsored ballot measures that would have significantly cut the City’s budget and curtailed its authority; November 2002 - successful campaign management for three Inland Empire area water board directors and one city councilman. Beyond these local efforts, on a statewide basis Davis played a key role in the successful passage of Proposition 50, the $3.4 billion statewide water bond.

Rick Davis also has extensive experience with water related issues and working with key water stakeholders. In 1999 he led an effort on behalf of the Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority (SAWPA) to gain support for their projects in the state water bond. This effort required developing broad awareness and a brand identity for SAWPA, which was virtually unknown beyond industry circles. The team developed a strategic communications plan, marketing materials and crated and activated a broad based coalition of support that assisted SAWPA in obtaining $250 million in the March 2000 statewide water bond. Davis continues to work closely with SAWPA on all of their public information, communications and public affairs programs.

As a member of Governor George Deukmejian’s personal staff for nearly eight years, Davis coordinated important state-level policy initiatives and programs.  Serving as Special Assistant to the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Davis played an integral role in the implementation of policy directives, both internally and as the Governor’s representative to federal, state and local government.  During this period, Governor Deukemejian granted him a leave of absence to serve as Deputy Campaign Director of George Bush’s 1988 Presidential campaign in California.  Prior to this, he also served on the 1982 and 1986 Deukmejian for Governor campaigns.

Davis played a leading role in the 1990 Wilson for Governor campaign as the Executive Director of the California Republican Party. Under the campaign finance restrictions of Propositions 68 and 73, the California Republican Party was a key ally to the gubernatorial nominee’s successful campaign.   Davis developed and implemented a strategic plan that included voter registration, polling, direct mail, advertising, canvas identification programs, slate cards, telephone banks, precinct walking, GOTV and fundraising.

Davis received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. He resides in Long Beach with his wife Joanne and two sons Jack and Mark.
